Academic Appeals E.1.13a

ACN is committed to fair academic decision making. A student who is dissatisfied with an academic decision and believes that they meet eligible grounds for contesting a decision may apply for an academic appeal.

An academic appeal must be made in writing on the Request for an Appeal of an Academic Decision form and emailed to academic.appeals@acn.edu.au within twenty (20) working days of the original assessment decision letter date.

ACN will consider student requests for refunds from a course or unit of study in line with the Course Withdrawal and Refunds policy.

International Student Transfer and Release E.1.17

The International Student Transfer and Release policy sets out the circumstances (i) where ACN will allow an international student to transfer to ACN prior to the completion of six months of study of their principle course and (ii) when ACN will release an international student to another registered provider.

This policy outlines when ACN will re-credit a FEE-HELP balance for students who withdraw from study after the published census date or fail to complete a unit of study, due to special circumstances.

  • ACN’s requirements for determining admission to an ACN course
  • the steps of finalising an enrolment into the course; and

Non-academic Grievance Policy E.1.13

Australian College of Nursing (ACN) is committed to developing and maintaining an effective, timely, fair and equitable grievance handling system which is easily accessible to all complainants. The Non-academic grievance policy outlines grievance procedures designed to ensure that ACN responds effectively to individual cases of dissatisfaction.

Student management E.1.3

The student management policy was developed to assist students by establishing guidelines relating to all aspects of their course and to ensure equity of administrative practice across all courses conducted by ACN. It provides students with the correct procedures for overall student progression, grievances and appeal. All education staff, education contractors and students are required to read and understand the policy and agree to abide by it. If there are any queries in relation to this policy clarification should be sought.

In collecting personal information ACN will comply with the requirements of the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) set out in schedule 1 of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The Student Privacy and Personal Information policy outlines the student personal information handling practices of the Australian College of Nursing.

Student Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment E.1.7

ACN has zero tolerance for sexual assault and sexual harassment and is committed to providing an environment for staff and students that is free from all forms of discrimination and sexual harassment. ACN will support students who report sexual harassment or sexual assault. If you, or someone you know, has been affected by an incident of sexual assault or harassment, support is available. Tuition assurance arrangements

ACN has established external tuition safeguards to mitigate disadvantage to students who are unable to progress in a course of study due to unexpected changes to the College’s operations, including if the College is unable to provide a course of study or ceases to operate as a provider.
