The Australian College of Nursing (ACN) is saddened to hear of the tragic death of South Australian nurse Kirsty Boden in the London Bridge terrorist attack.
Described by colleagues as ‘one in a million’ who always went the extra mile for the patients in her care, it is reported that Kirsty died whilst selflessly running toward danger to try and help people injured in the attack.
“This kind of heroic and selfless act epitomises nursing values of putting others before one’s self,” said Adjunct Professor Kylie Ward FACN, ACN CEO.
“We are so proud of Kirsty and all the emergency personnel who respond so professionally in times of crisis.
We are deeply saddened by this terrible news and our thoughts are now with her family, loved ones and colleagues in this difficult time.”
