ACN looks forward to working with the Turnbull Government
Australian College of Nursing looks forward to working with the Turnbull Government to promote the role of nursing leadership in the health care system
The Australian College of Nursing (ACN) warmly extends congratulations to re-elected Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. ACN calls upon the re-elected Government to respond to challenges in health care delivery by supporting innovative models of integrated care that are patient centred and promote equality and access to all Australians.
ACN’s CEO, Adjunct Professor Kylie Ward FACN said “ACN looks forward to working collaboratively with the Government and the Health Minister. Nursing leadership can drive health system reform and inform the strategic direction of Australia’s health system. There are more nurses than any other health professional group in Australia. Nurses provide holistic care all day, every day, everywhere. The positive health care outcomes that nurses achieve cannot be ignored.”
At a time when the fiscal environment has created challenges in the health system, ACN calls for the greater utilisation of the nursing workforce. Nurses are highly skilled health professionals who deliver safe and quality care. The community trusts the nursing profession. Nurses continue to demonstrate leadership with financially responsible and governed health care delivery.
“Nurses are ready and willing to meet the continuing care needs of an increasingly ageing population and rising rates of chronic disease. ACN looks forward to working with the Turnbull Government to promote the positive outcomes that nurses can make in health care reform” Adjunct Professor Ward said.
