The Australian College of Nursing continues to unite the nursing profession
Last night, the Australian College of Nursing (ACN) held another successful networking function for its Members, Fellows and VIP guests at the Rydges South Bank Brisbane.
ACN was honoured to have Queensland’s Acting Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer Dr Natalie Spearing in attendance last night.
ACN’s CEO, Adjunct Professor Kylie Ward FACN, said, “It has been inspiring meeting with the nursing community in Queensland. Nursing is a dynamic career, no day is the same as the last. There has never been a better time to consider a career in nursing.”
Adjunct Professor Ward said, “While I am disappointed that no Queensland politicians were present at last night’s event, I will continue advocating for Queensland nurse leaders to be at the policy making table and look forward to speaking with the Queensland Health Minister and Minister for Ambulance Services, the Hon Cameron Dick, and the Shadow Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, Mr John-Paul Langbroek, in the future.”
Tonight the Australian College of Nursing (ACN) will facilitate another networking function at the Rydges Esplanade Resort Cairns for its Members and Fellows, with key health stakeholders from metropolitan, regional and rural areas attending.
This is the eighth of a number of VIP Cocktail Functions ACN has been hosting throughout every state and territory.
The functions focus on three key themes:
- The power of nursing as a collective voice
- The top three priorities for the future of nursing
- The top three priorities our Members and Fellows want to see from ACN
The next ACN VIP Cocktail Function is scheduled in Darwin on 19 July.
Adjunct Professor Ward said, “Transformational leadership in the nursing profession can promote change within the Australian health system. ACN wants to foster and support the leadership skills that all nurses possess and will continue to create opportunities where nurses have the ability to discuss issues and ideas that can influence health policy.”
