About the CPD short course
This short course is conducted over one day and is equivalent to 7 continuing professional development (CPD) hours. Please note that this program is subject to change.
Who should attend?
Developed in association with the NSW Organ and Tissue Donation Service, this short course is designed to provide operating theatre nurses with a greater understanding of the organ donation process.

Key learning outcomes
On completion participants will be better able to:
- understand the donation pathways and legal considerations
- understand the organ donation surgical process including the roles and responsibilities of surgical teams involved, equipment and surgery set-up requirements
- understand the conditions that led to transplantation, patient selection and outcomes
- understand the complexities of the donation process in the operating theatre and identified strategies to better support staff involved
