Palliative care myths: closing the gap

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

“How people die remains in the memory of those who live on” Dame Cicely Saunders, Founder of the Modern Hospice Movement.

Nurses have a profound influence on how patients cope with terminal illness and maintain their sense of dignity. Many myths surround the role of palliative care, the vastness of its definition and how it may be incorporated into sound clinical practice. The challenges are enormous.

The one hour webinar aims to address some of the myths surrounding the philosophy of palliative care and its role and future needs with an ageing population.

 Topics will highlight:

  • the definition of palliative care and implications for clinical practice.
  • who needs palliative care and when
  • the importance of good communication
  • myths around morphine and goals of care.

Webcasts available for registered participants for 3 weeks.
