This unit of study is designed to introduce you to the professional issues you face within contemporary acute care nursing practice. The unit of study will promote new ways of thinking and learning, developing your teaching and mentoring abilities, enhancing your communication skills, and exploring your potential for leadership and practice development within the workplace.

At the completion of this unit of study it is hoped that you will have a better knowledge of the tools available to continue to develop your nursing leadership skills, for example through the development of mentoring relationships and the use of critical reflection on your practice.
