The Australian College of Nursing (ACN) is deeply saddened to hear about the tragic events that have occurred at Manchester Arena in the UK following US pop singer Ariana Grande’s concert.
ACN CEO Adjunct Professor Kylie Ward FACN, who is currently in the UK, said “It is heartbreaking that innocent lives have been lost at what should have been an enjoyable night out seeing a world-famous pop star. Unfortunately, these individuals will not be returning home to loved ones.”
ACN sends sincere condolences to the families of the deceased and injured and encourages people to seek support, especially over the days, weeks and months ahead.
Adjunct Professor Ward said “ACN is mindful that nurses and our professional colleagues are providing care to so many affected by this tragedy. We are proud of their leadership at such a difficult time and encourage them to seek any support that they may need now or in the days ahead.”
