This course is designed for RNs holding general registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia who meet the Recency of Practice Registration Standard of three (3) months practice in the last five years but wish to refresh their knowledge in acute care nursing. It is also ideal for nurses working in non-acute areas of practice that wish to work in acute care.
The program builds on previous knowledge, skills and experience in preparation for demonstration of safe practice.
This course is designed to enable students to draw on the nurse’s previous nursing experience and qualifications and to build on that by providing an introduction to the contemporary requirements of the current day nurse. This includes a nurse who demonstrates professional practice, critical thinking and analysis, provision and coordination of care and collaborative and therapeutic practice.
The 10 modules offered are:
- Professional Issues
- Introduction to physical assessment
- Care and management of a deteriorating patient
