We are powerful individually, but unstoppable together

We are committed to ensuring that the expertise and experiences of nurses are represented in policy development throughout the Australian health and aged care system.

Fellows and Members of ACN are regularly invited to participate in consultations on a broad range of clinical, professional and health policy issues. Opportunities to contribute to ACN submissions are advertised through our weekly eNewsletter and by direct communication with members.

Policy Chapters

ACN is excited to launch Policy Chapters in recognition of the constantly changing landscape of the provision of patient care and services within the Australian health and aged care systems.

The aim is to provide opportunities for nursing leaders and experts to inform change and guide future directions through collaboration. Each Policy Chapter will then focus on a specific matter and draw on the specialised skills and expertise of members of ACN and external stakeholders to work with and influence government and policy makers. ACN is proud to announce our first four policy chapters:

  • Workforce sustainability
  • Healthy ageing
  • Chronic disease
  • End of life care

White Papers

Our White Papers detail information on topics which reflect our values and mission of advancing nurse leadership to enhance health care.

Position statements

ACN is committed to ensuring that the expertise and experiences of nurses are represented in policy development throughout the Australian health and aged care system. We develop position statements in response to issues that are relevant to and/or directly impact on the nursing profession.

Policy submissions

ACN is regularly invited to provide input and advice to government and non-government consultations on a number of nursing and health-related matters. So in order to provide the most comprehensive responses, ACN seeks input from members in their areas of expertise and submits these to the relevant government department or organisation.
