Overview
This microcredential will give an introduction to management. Within organisations, leaders and managers play a defining role, and while leadership and management are closely related, they are not synonymous.
In this microcredential, the theoretical ideas around management and organisations will be introduced. You will reflect on organisational culture, power and politics. It will conclude with an overview of organisational structures and the Australian healthcare system.
This microcredential is the second in a series of three that corresponds to the unit of study 249 Introduction to Leadership and Management.

Applicable to all nurses and midwives regardless of the workplace setting.

This microcredential is the second in a series of three. Completing all three microcredentials in the series allows you to apply for credit towards unit 249 Introduction to Leadership and Management (6 credit points) and build towards a full Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Management at ACN.

Sharron coordinates our Graduate Certificate in Perioperative Nursing. She began her nursing career in the United Kingdom where she worked in primarily in the field of women’s health, both in an acute gynaecological setting and in primary health as a qualified family planning nurse. Sharron has several years of experience within the perioperative setting, mainly in anaesthetics and recovery. She also has extensive experience in the day surgery environment. Sharron has 30 years of nursing experience and sees nursing as not only a science but also an art, with compassion, humanity and empathy at its core.
