Overview
Mentoring, preceptorship, and coaching are three important types of relationships in clinical settings. Although the three terms are different, each describes a relationship between people. This microcredential aims to give an insight into these relationships and discuss how they can be applied in practice.
Feedback and communication will also be discussed, as these are essential skills in all relationships. In particular, this microcredential will focus on how to give and receive feedback, forms of communication, communication skills, barriers to communication, and strategies to deal with difficult communication situations.
This microcredential is the third in a series of three corresponding to the unit of study 249 Introduction to Leadership and Management.

Applicable to all nurses and midwives regardless of the workplace setting.

This microcredential is the third and final in a series of three. Completing all three microcredentials in the series allows you to apply for credit towards unit 249 Introduction to Leadership and Management (6 credit points) and build towards a full Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Management at ACN.

Sharron coordinates our Graduate Certificate in Perioperative Nursing. She began her nursing career in the United Kingdom where she worked in primarily in the field of women’s health, both in an acute gynaecological setting and in primary health as a qualified family planning nurse. Sharron has several years of experience within the perioperative setting, mainly in anaesthetics and recovery. She also has extensive experience in the day surgery environment. Sharron has 30 years of nursing experience and sees nursing as not only a science but also an art, with compassion, humanity and empathy at its core.
